Privacy Policy

Lyphe Club ("Lyphe", "we") is an iPhone app operated by Andrew Cheng in Massachusetts, USA. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and the choices you have. Contact: join@lyphe.club.
What we collect
- Account. When you sign in with Apple we receive an Apple user identifier and, if you share them, your name and email address. Apple may give us a private relay email in place of your real one.
- Profile. Your username, display name, photo, cover photo, bio and avatar.
- Sessions. When each Lyphe Mode session starts and ends, pauses, who you were in a group with, and totals derived from these such as time, streaks, ranks and coins.
- Content you create. Photos you take in the app, captions, posts, comments, reactions, chat messages sent in group sessions, commitments and wins, and club names.
- Connections. Your friends, clubs, invitations, and people you have blocked or reported.
- Private stats. The app you say you are leaving a session for. Only you can see this.
- Location (only if you turn it on). If you choose to share your location on the map, we collect your device's location while the app is open, so the people you pick can see where you are. It is off until you enable it, and you choose exactly who sees you. See "Location" below.
- Device. A push notification token and basic technical logs needed to run and secure the service.
What stays on your phone
Lyphe uses Apple's Screen Time features to block apps during a session. The apps you choose to allow, and the screen time figures shown in your Stats, are handled by Apple on your device. We do not receive a list of the apps on your phone or your usage of them.
We do not collect your contacts or your photo library. Photos come only from the in-app camera. We only collect your location if you turn on location sharing, and only while the app is open (see "Location").
How we use it
- To run the app: sessions, groups, clubs, the feed, stats, coins and ranks.
- To show your content to the people you choose.
- To send notifications you have turned on.
- To keep the service safe, investigate reports, and fix problems.
We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
Who can see what
All members. Every member belongs to Lyphe Club, the club for everyone using the app. Other members can see your name, avatar, member number and, if you allow it, your level and rank. They cannot see your hours, sessions, posts or photos. You can limit this to friends and club-mates, or hide yourself from the member list, in settings. The combined total of time members have spent in Lyphe Mode is shown to everyone and never identifies you.
Invites. Lyphe Club is invite-only. When you join with someone's invite code, we record who invited you. The Tree of Lyphe shows members who invited whom: the people in your tree can see your name, avatar and member number there, and nothing more unless they are your friends or club-mates.
Friends and club-mates. Your profile, posts, level and rank are visible to your friends and to people who are in a club with you. Group chat, group photos and recaps are visible to the people who were in that session. Club rosters and live status are visible to members of that club, and you can hide a session from any club.
Only you. Your stats, including hours, session counts, coin balance, and the apps you say you left a session for.
Location
Location sharing is entirely optional and off by default. You are never on the map until you turn it on and choose who can see you.
- Only while the app is open. We read your location only when the Lyphe app is open and in use. We never track you in the background or when the app is closed. If you close the app, the last place you were shows as your "last seen," with how long ago it was.
- You choose exactly who sees you. Sharing is person by person. You pick each individual friend or club-mate who can see your location, and you can stop sharing with anyone at any time. People you have not chosen, and anyone who is not your friend or club-mate, never see your location. Sharing is one-way: seeing someone's location does not reveal yours unless you have also chosen to share with them.
- Ghost mode. A single switch hides you from everyone at once and stops new location from being shared, without changing your list of chosen people. Turn it off and you share again with the same people as before.
- Live vs. last seen. When you are in a Lyphe Mode session your pin shows as live; otherwise it shows the last place recorded while the app was open, with the time.
- Blocks. Blocking someone hides your location from them and theirs from you, both ways.
- Turning it off. You can stop sharing with individuals, switch on ghost mode, or revoke the location permission entirely in iPhone Settings. You can also deny the permission when first asked and still use the rest of the app.
Places you tag in a photo, and photos you choose to attach to a place, follow the privacy setting you pick for that photo: people only see a photo on a place if you allowed them to see that post.
Service providers
We use Supabase to host our database, files and server functions, and Apple for sign-in and push notifications. They process data on our behalf to provide these services.
Keeping and deleting data
We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account in the app's settings, or by emailing us, and we will delete your account and content from our systems within 30 days, apart from limited records we must keep for safety or legal reasons. Content you sent to others in a group, such as chat messages, is removed with your account.
Your choices
You can edit your profile, delete posts and photos, turn notifications on or off, turn location sharing on or off and choose who sees you, use ghost mode, block and report people, and remove Screen Time or location access in iPhone Settings. You can ask us for a copy of your data or to correct or delete it by emailing us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor them.
Age
Lyphe is for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child is using the app, contact us and we will remove the account.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, and access is restricted by per-user rules on our servers. No system is perfectly secure, so please use the app with that in mind.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way we will update the date above and tell you in the app.
